Facts, traditions and practical details

We prioritise shrine websites, public tourism bodies and cultural authorities. We distinguish founding traditions from established dates, and keep prayer associations separate from guarantees. Opening, office and paid-area information is recorded by scope. A missing value is not treated as free admission or 24-hour access.

Photographs

We use photographs with individually checked commercial-use copyright conditions. Each image includes the creator, original page and licence; changes such as resizing and cropping are disclosed. Adapted CC BY-SA images keep their image licence. A shrine website photograph is not reused simply because it is publicly visible.

Photographs may be old and do not establish current conditions. They do not imply endorsement by a shrine or photographer.

Updates and corrections

Each entry shows its source-check date. Check official notices before travel. We plan quarterly reviews of hours and fees, with changes reviewed sooner when known.
