Kameido Tenjin Shrine
亀戸天神社
Choose this eastern Tokyo shrine for learning-related prayers and a walk around its pond and arched bridges. Wisteria makes spring a distinctive season, but flowering depends on the weather and is not a year-round sight.

A short history
In 1662 the shrine’s buildings, pond and bridges were established following Dazaifu’s layout, on land supported by the Tokugawa shogunate. It honours Sugawara no Michizane and preserves Tenjin worship in the Kameido neighbourhood.
Before you go
Bridges have steep sections. Allow extra time during flower festivals and confirm current blooming notices. The official FAQ suggests about 20 minutes for a basic precinct circuit; our wider allowance includes short stops.
