Enshrined kami

Oyamazumi no Okami

A short history

The shrine’s account connects its origins with the legendary figure Ochi no Mikoto and dates its move to the present Miyaura site to 719. Oyamazumi is worshipped as a kami of mountains and the sea. The main and worship halls were rebuilt in the early Muromachi period; the shrine’s treasury preserves weapons and armour offered by worshippers.

Before you go

Omishima is an island in Imabari City, not beside central Imabari Station. The museum time notice differs from the prefectural tourism listing; this page uses the shrine’s own notice. Museum admission and time are excluded from the comparison estimate.
