Shirayama Hime’s Hongu near Tsurugi and Keta Taisha in Hakui are different day-trip choices. The first has a wooded uphill approach at Hakusan’s foothills; the second has a historic precinct beside a forest normally closed to visitors. Neither the mountain summit nor entry to the sacred forest is included in an ordinary precinct visit.
