The first Nagasaki entry is Suwa Shrine above the city, reached by tram and a stepped approach. Compare an ordinary shrine visit with the much busier Kunchi festival period. Festival seating and performances are outside the usual precinct visit allowance.

Getting there
Take a tram to Suwa Jinja stop, then use the underpass to reach the shrine approach as directed by the official site. Nagasaki tourism gives about 5 minutes on foot from the stop; the approach includes steps.
