Fukutoku Shrine

福徳神社

A compact Nihonbashi shrine beside COREDO Muromachi, suited to a short stop during shopping or a city walk. Its Edo lottery connection explains today’s financial-fortune prayers; this is a cultural tradition, not a promise of winnings.

A short history

The precise foundation date is unknown. Shrine tradition places it here in the ninth century and connects the name Mebuki Inari with Tokugawa Hidetada seeing shoots on a wooden torii. The shrine also recalls shogunate-authorised lotteries used to support rebuilding.

Before you go
