Morioka Hachimangu
盛岡八幡宮
A city shrine with a large vermilion worship hall and decorative carvings. It is a practical architectural stop in a Morioka itinerary, with staffed services on a different schedule from ordinary worship.

A short history
Nanbu Shigenobu established the shrine in 1680. Rebuilding followed fires and weather damage; the present large worship hall was completed in 1997. Its upper sanctuary has a separate building history.
