A short history
Chusha enshrines the kami of wisdom associated with the heavenly rock-cave myth. Togakushi developed as a mountain religious centre with Shinto and Buddhist traditions, which were separated in the Meiji period.
Before you go
Do not use this short duration for the five-shrine circuit. Snow and icy paths can change the visit; follow closures and the winter goshuin arrangements.
