Tohoku’s entries range from town shrines in Morioka, Sendai, Yonezawa and Aizumisato to the mountain-foot Iwakiyama Shrine and Haguro’s summit Sanjingosaiden. Compare the travel base first. A summit visit, a long stone-step pilgrimage and ordinary town worship have different transport and walking needs.

Getting there
Hirosaki tourism directs visitors from Hirosaki Station bus stand 6 to Iwakiyama Jinja-mae on Konan Bus’s Iwaki routes via Takaoka. Check the current timetable and return service; no fixed journey time is confirmed here.

Getting there
The local tourism association gives about 15 minutes on foot from JR Hon-Shiogama Station. The shrine stands on a hill; route and ascent affect walking time. Check the official access guide before choosing an approach.

Getting there
For a summit visit, check buses from JR Tsuruoka Station to Haguro Sancho. Haguro Zuishinmon is the lower approach for the 2,446-step walk, not the summit stop. Check seasonal timetables and road conditions.

Getting there
From JR Yonezawa Station, use a bus to Uesugi Jinja-mae (Uesugi Joshi-en), or allow around 10 minutes by car according to the shrine. Check the return bus timetable.

The official site provides an access map for the Miyabayashi precinct in Aizumisato. Check local trains or buses from Aizuwakamatsu and the final walking approach before setting out.
