A short history

Shrine tradition connects its origins with Omononushi and the sacred mountain, rather than a securely dated foundation. The absence of a main sanctuary preserves an early form of mountain worship. The present worship hall is an Important Cultural Property.

Before you go

The estimate does not include climbing sacred Mount Miwa. Mountain entry has separate reception, restrictions and closure notices; do not treat it as an unrestricted hiking trail. Prayer associations do not guarantee outcomes.
